I was wondering what kind of jobs in fishing, oil, or anything else, maybe forestry or farming, are available in Alaska, where, and what time of year one should come to Alaska for them. Thanks.

Oh give me a break, the Iceworm harvests don't start until early March during the migrations...

They would waste almost a full month chasing farming jobs til then.

There is that Glacier ice harvest out of Valdez that does start right after the Winter Carnival there....

In the mid nineties, the forestry industry in Alaska supported 4,000 direct jobs. Today there's 400 jobs in the timber industry.

Out of curiosity, where are you getting your stats on that?

Start an internet search: Links for Job Seekers - Labor & Workforce Development

then...
Employment Opportunities

or choose an area and search the individual towns/burroughs etc. such as
SOLDOTNA, ak - Google Maps

Alaska is a very big state and the weather and what's available vary... pin point the area that meets your living style and likes then narrow down the questions.. this should give you a good start.. good luck... (have you visited??) should definitely visit and see if you like it first...

I agree with visiting. Alaska is huge, therefore its resources areas are also spread out. I found the areas to be very different, so it's not a general move to Alaska thing. I think you have gotten some good advice to narrow down your search. I think you should also think about what you would really like to do, along with the skills you already have, and then search for the area that has that opportunity.

Do some research on your own and post more specific questions. You're basically asking people to tell you what you should do for a living, where you should live, and when you should move there, without giving us any information whatsoever about your background or preferences. That's not going to get you very far.
