you can't pick just one

Granddaughter & I found our goldmine today, filled our bucket in less than an hour. If we'd had another bucket we'd probably still be there stumbling around in the dark. Guess where we're going first thing in the morning!
Meantime we have 14 quarts of juice concentrate so far and the juicer's still juicing. Yummy!

Cool! They're beautiful! You should be eating potatoes by now too! Did I send you some garlic to plant? We had garlic smashed potatoes tonight with our fried zukini & sockeye with blueberry wine. I love free food! Wonder what the poor rich folks had.

What's in the huckleberry sauce you make for salmon? Sounds intriquing.

We have red huckleberries here too, though not nearly as plentiful! I was able to pick just a few quarts for freezing, though they say that if you dry them they taste like cranberries. Ours are much more tart than the blue huckleberries. The Native Americans used to rely on the dried ones for their vitamin c in the winter.

The husband isn't fond of huckleberries. I finally found out the berries that are so prolific in the yard are mulberries. Not much left on their trees, but next year I'll know what to do! For the now, it is a little entertaining to watch the birds and their erratic flight-patterns and squirrels falling over as the berries on the ground have evidently fermented.
