Just curios Starlite9, how much you selling that property for, and how much land is it on?

I was looking at the "Otter Lakes" area on that link that i provided. Some-what near Anchorage. I'm trying to find maps to see just how close it is to any kind of a road.

So, since Anchorage is the closes city to that property, does it still get below freezing in the warmest month?

Thank you all for the links and the video. It will be some time (maybe as much as 5 years) before I'll be ready. Until then I'll keep doing my best to educate myself with these forums, and your feedback.

In 5 years you'll be an Internet Expert on all things Alaskan without having ever set foot in Alaska.

Question Trees

Something I hadn't thought of...do only pine trees grow in Alaska? Assuming I built a small shanty in Alaska, and I wanted to us a wood burning stove for heat, what kind of trees could I cut down? I always thought that you couldn't use pine for stoves, as they cause chimney fires?

BIG PINES!! I heat my shanty by just burning pine cones.

Question Pinecones?

Are you serious? How long does a pinecone burn? Er...how many pinecones would you need to burn for 12 hours?

Those don't cause chimney fires?
