A 71-year-old pilot from Alaska has been charged with flying into a southern Indiana airport with 200 pounds of marijuana stashed inside the plane. Clark County prosecutors on Thursday charged Allen Richter of Ketchikan, Alaska, with felony charges of dealing marijuana.

Just a few days ago an 80 year old resident of Ketchikan was charged with child porn.

Haven't the senior citizens there ever heard of Bingo or Cribbage?

71 years is not exactly quick, I am guessing there were several failed lagit buisness attempts. Being patient to the point of death is not really a relavent virture.

Expect to see much more of this as the economy worsens, many people will not be able to pay the bills and make a comfortable living through lagit means. Also the new criminals that start doing this will become alot more viscious and will not be locked up without a heated gun battle. As the economy continues to worsen you will get increasingly more skilled trigger men and other skilled individuals doing this kind of stuff and there will be alot more police casulties, the death toll will not be one sided and police budgets will be simultaniuouly slashed in some areas making enforcement of most laws nearly impossible.

Prisons are already drasticly overpopulated as it is for pot dealers, I doubt he will see much if any time. This is just the tip of the iceberg if the next president and congress dont get their head out of the sand. All you have to do is look at russia and its crime problems, their police are brutal and their criminals are even more brutal because the stakes are too high and the means to make a comofortable living through lagit means are nearly impossible.

No matter how much the rich nerdo wells complain about "free market" and "get a job", reality is going to shake out and its not going to favor the nerdo wells and their posh communities. They already have their cake and they dont really care what happens to others as long as they just go off in the woods and die so they dont have to see them by the side of the road while they are driving their nice new porch chyana.

Wasn't there some Asian country that has a way to deal with marijuana smugglers?

Hmm. Rich Nerdos - I'd like a Definition? I see plenty of rich people who I wouldn't qualify as a "nerd" who drive their Porsche Cayenne's.

But I do agree about your take on violent crime and the people that are committing them are "different" then before. Too soon to know how this will shake out, but we do need to get out of this recession and fast so that it shakes out for the better.

Default Allen Paul Richter

There has to be much more to the story than what's being reported and I'm very surprised that the press overlooked the fact that Allen was busted in 2004 for the very same thing. He was caught with 400 lbs of gonga at a Nashville FOB. He had to put up his home, store and some Idaho property on bond to get released.

It's tuff to survive on POW Isle, now that the timber industry has been regulated out of existence. You gotta make a livin' somehow. Pleasant fellow to talk with, but I always wondered how he could afford all the toys.
