^ So does it just need to be a really clear day for you to see them? I had noticed some mountains in the distance in some of your photos, but I had thought it was fata morgana because I didn't think you could see mountains from Bethel. Those are a long way away, some 80-100 miles according to Google Maps. That's one of the cool things about really open areas like that, you can see things that are really far away that here on the East Coast would be blocked by trees 20 yards away.

The closest mountain is 35 air miles away from Bethel.
