Keep in mind, a barge doesn't only come to Bethel, it also heads north to Nome and Kotzebue. If you are going to make a trip, fill it up with all three stops! On occasions, a smaller barge comes directly to Bethel only. That would be Alaska Logistics. The city was going to smash them up and ship them out but it would cost a lot of money to do that so they gave that up.
