The drive is very nice. You have Denali off to the right of you as you drive, nothing beats the view of it every morning when the sun is reflecting off of it. In the evening, you have the Chugiach range with the sun doing the same thing. It's lovely.

I remember when the Maricopa road was just a two lane highway that the Gila River flooded over. And the town of Maricopa was a dusty village.

Hah! I lived in Tempe and Mesa when they had real monsoons, and only the old Gila River bridge from the 19th Century remained standing each year.
