Yep, was a good false charge. Sure would make ya check your pants.
That's the big difference between browns and blacks, brown will false charge to try and scare you, but a black doesn't do that, they charge with no stopping.

silly question here - do the guides carry rifles or shotguns? When i did the river tour last summer the guide carried a shotgun with her when we got off the boat just for safety.

That bear was nice to all of them. That bear looked like he didn't have much fat on him and was looking for food.

Yes, the guides carry rifles and bear spray. Even though I used to deckhand for the guides taking tourists to the bear observatory at the end of the island, I don't think we have any business in their dining room. Somebody's going to get hurt eventually. There was already one incident when an idiot tourist decided to leave the protected area and got in the creek with a brownie and her cubs. Yeah, she charged him, had to be shot but it was the tourist should have been shot.
