Yeah, she charged him, had to be shot but it was the tourist should have been shot.
I agree. I like to observe wildlife. But from a distance. It freaks me out when I'm trying to get into the house and there is a moose in the front yard. Never mind trying to hang out with the bears.

Geez, the least they could have done was given him a hug for not killing them!

PS- It's a good thing my mom is not interested in bear sightseeing, and was not with that party. Her scream would have been heard in Anchorage. I'm not sure that would have boded well for everyone's health. Course, the bear might have suffered hearing loss and run away.

I believe the term you're looking for is "stunned"!

If that's the same one as on Yahoo (the Mail doesn't like me for some reason).

Caught on Tape: Grizzly Bear Charges Photographers - Yahoo!

I didn't even take it as a charge, I took it as the bear was spooked and ran away from the bush he was investigating it was coincidental that the tourons were in that direction, or it was running for safety in numbers one of the two, it even checked back over it's shoulder when it stopped running. There were no signs it was a charge, the bear shook itself, wasn't pacing, waving it's head, slobbering, chomping and wasn't focused on the tourons. Nothing to see here but a bunch of tourons getting scared from a bear running off from something that scared it in a bush.

I don't know a lot about bears, but it *didn't* really look like the people were its primary focus, or even a matter of much concern. Actually, it looked a little surprised to have noticed them. Like you said, possibly a coincidence?

It's easy, of course, to say that only watching the tape. I'm sure if I'd been there, that bear would have looked 15 feet tall and mad as hell. O.O

If you were there, you'd have known there was a charge in progress, you'd have a warm wet feeling in your shorts and some Lumps trying to run down the backside of your legs...

Natures way of letting you know that your gene pool is in trouble!
