Hi yo,

Can you tell me what the alaska-yukon rivalry is like? Also assuming one would like to become a gold prospector which of them would you recommend to venture to?

What.

I've never heard of this supposed rivalry. Am I missing something? We have friends in Whitehorse who come out here to snowboard and go to Arctic Man every spring and say they don't even feel like they've crossed a border. Canada seemed friendly enough when we were going through there.

If I was wanting to do some prospecting, I'd venture to wherever I could get a job, so I could afford to prospect on my off time.

Been watching too much Gold Rush Alaska? I think that's where he is getting the rivalry thing at. Never knew of one that existed outside of TV land.

Haha, no such rivalry. Yukon people from what I have noticed don't care for most Americans... UNLESS you are a neighboring Alaskan. In Watson Lake, Teslin, and Whitehorse I had a carpooling person with me from Washington and another from North Dakota on my commute. He would get into conversations and they would kinda show wonder in their questions of Why are you here? Then I would mention where I live and it would be like we were a family of the north latitude. But lower then the Yukon line, I was no better then anyone else lol.

I have certainly heard of the Alaska-Yukon rivalry!

Oh wait, that was the Alaska-Yukon rabble-rousing. My mistake.

As to gold mining which I forgot to mention. Depends on the form of mining you plan on doing. How long and serious you are thinking of doing it. Americans have a Right to mine per our grant in 1866 and 1872. BUT Canada it is a privilege and needs to better the common good. Canada has its royalties attached to the mining. Yukon is friendly to its history and mining as well as Alaska. The country you are citizen of would be the simplest to start. I'm assuming US citizen so Alaska would be easier.

What a bunch of complete tripe; the OP is an obvious idjit/troll of the first order.

The only time I ever see Canadians is when they slip over the border on Canada Day (July1) as a result of being intoxicated. You can tell who they are because you can hear them yelling at liquor store clerks and bartenders because cards issued from Canadian banks frequently don't work in AK.
