This may be a somewhat remedial question, but everywhere I look, I get a very broad description.

Can anyone elaborate on where the mat-su valley boundaries are? Or what towns it spreads to and how large the actual area is?

Thanks guys!!

Sorry for the somewhat pointless question, I just can't find a defined answer online anywhere.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough stretches from Knik River, northwest to Broad Pass and northeast to past Eureka Summit.
The population core of the Valley stretches from Houston to Sutton and includes Houston, Big Lake, Meadow Lakes, Knik-Fairview, Wasilla, Gateway, Palmer, the Butte & Sutton.
Willow, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek and Chickaloon are also in the Borough, but most people consider them outside the core population area. I guess it just depends how you define it... Some people would say that Sutton & Houston are outside the core area.

Matanuska-Susitna Valley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Borough (Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) has 25,258 square miles of land, which makes it slightly larger than West Virgina.

Total population has just exceeded 100,000. Most of that population is in the "core area".

Marty - With the downturn potentially coming to Alaska - how do you think that will affect the Valley? The same or more than Anchorage?

As always I give great emphasis to your opinion as a lifetime Alaska resident.
