Pepe's Restaurant, the northernmost Mexican food place in the world is gone, burned down to the ground tonight.

That's a shame. (Haven't been to Barrow but have heard of Pepe's).

I hope nobody was hurt and they will be able to reopen someday. Do they know how it started?

No injuries that I know of. It started in the wee hours of the night. They did have to evacuate Top of the World Hotel.

Too soon to tell how it started but I'm sure word will get around once the cause is discovered.

Wait...they have/had Pepe's in Alaska but not South Carolina? Glad no one was hurt. Business can be rebuilt! Love Pepe's tacos and there is nothing like it down here!

I was wondering what the deal was last night, i drove over to Era to see if any flights came in (2:30 am) and i noticed alot of traffic in that direction but i went back on the damn road instead.

I wonder if they plan to rebuild... and i hope to hell it was not an arson.

Thanks for the info Wynter.

I ate there in '96 and then took a dip in the Arctic and got my certificate and patch. Too bad it burnt.
