We had a huge dust storm earlier this afternoon and it turned into a snow storm tonight. Winds were gusting around 40mph and now it's calming down. Expecting freezing rain and snow tonight.

Lots of dust and high winds to be had in Bethel. One day it was so bad I couldn't see across the lot where the hospital housing shacks were.

Started snowing here at Swanson River Field (central peninsula) about 4PM. We might have an inch on the ground but it looks wonderful. Can't wait to wake up in the AM and see it in the daylight! Talked to the boss in Anchorage about 6pm. He said he has 3 inches at his house! You folks please drive carefull to work tomorrow (if you have to work) and watch out for the "other guy"! I'm sure it will be a mess.

Alaska Dispatch had a funny article about "Winter is here in Alaska finally" and all I could think was "it's been here in Barrow since September!" We've had a nice two days of blizzard conditions. It's still windy but the snow has stopped for the time being.
