I thought about this years ago, mainly because the whole Wasilla-Palmer area has so much open land. It's scenic too, and I think it has a lot of potential.

What do you guys think?

I'm not sure of the definition of "metro".... But The Valley definitely is growing.
If by metro, you mean dense housing, I don't think that'll happen. There's some newer subdivisions where they are doing 1/2 acre lots, but most lots are 1 acre or more.
The MatSu greenbelt is a big chunk of land between Trunk Road to the west, Palmer to the East, the flats to the south and the Palmer/Wasilla Highway to north that is owned by the borough, State Parks and the universities. This will not get developed.
