AK76 - I think we will find out soon enough, and I don't like Bass Pro nearly as much as Cabela's either.

We will make name tags for them so everyone thinks they work there.

Product testers.

You will find yourself in Cabela's parking lot when you weren't actually driving there.

You will go in anyway....

Having never been to a Cabelas in person, is it more or less like a Sportsman's Warehouse? Fairbanks SW takes about a tenth of everything I earn (at least!).

Cabelas overall is a nicer store and cabelas are much bigger.

I agree that camping equipment and clothing will be high on a lot of Alaskan's lists, but will that be enough to support a store that size? When it comes to fishing gear, they already have lots of competition, and they cannot sell one tenth of their fishing stock in Alaska. Nobody in Alaska is going to buy blue-gill j.i.g.s., or worms for bass.

I will check out their store, but I see no reason to stop shopping at Mountain View Sports Center when I am in Anchorage. At least it is locally owned.

Not just Alaskans, tourists will be pulling into there from their nearby RV rental shops. Or tent camping tourists needing equipment, dehydrated food, fuel, stoves, whatever. Or winter visitors needing warmer clothes. Cabellas will rock in Anchorage, IMHO.
