To actually WATCH the weather in Fairbanks, there's a wonderful south-facing webcam in a window of the Daily News-Miner newspaper, at Terminal and Cushman just north of the Chena. The pic will update each time you click on it. Under the pic there's weather info. ArcticCam « ArcticCam.com

Hmmm.. I think some people should shop around for their heating fuel.

We just ordered up some #2 heating oil (-15 degree blend) for underground tanks, $3.06 a gallon. #1 Heating oil (same as Diesel) usually runs 10 to 15 cents more.

Gasoline at the Fed Meyers grocery without the discount is $3.18. I don't use the unleaded in the winter here, I prefer the mid grade for 10 cents more. The local refinery lowgrade tends to plug up injector more often.

I think the tempature swings from night to day right now is -15 to 15 above. I expect it to get cold after Christmas. Fairbanksans don't do wind chill much, surrounded on three sides by hills.

Almost forgot we have about 6" of snow right now, a bit behind normal for this time of year, should be 12 to 18". Most roads are pretty dry and only have to watch a few interesections for ice and of course rurual areas and subdivisions. We are wishing for more snow, need it to insulate the ground and pipes that are burried.
