Primarily which out of state license plates do you see in Alaska?

People who move to AK from the lower 48, where do they primarily move from?

Hell. Most people move up here from there.

I still have VA tags on my car since I haven't gotten the title out of storage to change the registration. A few weeks ago someone left a sticky note on my car that said "Hello from Blacksburg VA, Joe" when I was at the Northern Lights Fred Meyers. I thought it was nice so I kept the note.

The first thing I want to do when we get there is put AK tags on the cars and get AK DLs. Our cars lease payment and our insurance goes down. Our lease payment has a use tax on it, that AK doesn't have. Have to start saving up for winter tire purchases. So really it will be a wash...

You forgot Texas. Lots of Texas.
There is plenty of Washington and California, too.

I see all that you mention rather frequently, keep in mind that anyplace which has an Army Fort or Air Force Base will/can/does rotate personnel through Alaska, also keep in mind that Alaska is highly sought after by military personnel. Connecticut and New York less common, but I see them.

Yes, per-capita Alaska has the largest number of veterans and retired military members.

I moved from Minnesota when I lived in Anchorage. A neighbor a few doors down saw our plates and said they were also from MN. A good friend I met up there, his dad lives in MN, many MN connections it seems.
