My family and I are moving from Alaska back to the lower 48's my question is about whether or not my husband would have an issue crossing... He has domestic violence on his record from about 8 years ago before we were even together so would he have issues crossing due to that? I have read a lot of the Canadian websites and they don't make it very clear as to whether or not it would be an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Yes, it could be a problem. However, you do have a couple of options. Check this out:

I read the guide. Probably best to call and ask. That guide is kind of vague and leaves room for him to be denied entry. You might also want to have papers/proof showing you are moving as if it is in the grey area that might let you thru.

Questions you will need the answers to before you call. Was he convicted? What was he convicted of?

Domestic Violence covers a wide swath of "crimes." It just means the crime was committed against someone that you have a domestic relationship with. Typically this is a spouse, someone you had a child with, relative by blood or marriage, or a person you are or have ever lived with as if a family. The domestic definition may vary depending on the state.
