But will it be enough to replace the oil money loss? Could be our new commodity... Fresh drinking water.

I disagree. I think Los Angeles County would get first dibs and the only thing they grow is criminals and bull****. They have already stolen all the water out of the Owens Valley and they steal all the wind and solar power produced in Kern County. They don't give a **** about farms and ranches. Food just shows up on the shelves at the grocery store. Like magic.

Generally, if it considered "non-navigable" it is. Navigability of lakes is a fairly complicated subject, but there is plenty of case law, even in Alaska, on it. Have you ever seen a subdivision around a body of water that has lots running to the center? The lot owner holds title to that portion of the water body bed, although there will usually be covenants or easements allowing use of the water by all residents.

You can't make stuff up on here. It is completely legal to sell a lake that is on private property.

If we had done everything suggested during the peak of the gravy train we would not be in the situation we are in now. Additionally we would have a road to nome and a bridge to Russia and trade with Russia as well.

Private individuals can not own water ways (lakes, rivers, ocean) they might own the rights to use so much of said water but they can not prevent people from using the lake. Some lakes are locked in by private property but it does not take too many people complaining for the govt to force a public access point to the lake or river. The only time I support a section of a lake to be private is if it is designated as a float strip and marked off as such.

Lakes can most certainly be privately owned, dependent upon certain criteria.

There have been precedents set in both directions. In essence cities that have municipal reservoirs have a community owned lake and sell water.

on the other side Wildlife can also be seen as a natural resource, like water is. But you can not sell wildlife that is on your land and must abide by local, state and federal laws if harvesting it.

The question is can anyone actually own water?
