In the interior the Lintelman's, and Northern lights dairy, and they no longer import milk. Three also run in the Matunuska Valley,

I never thought that large veggies were for anything other than ornamental or to see just how big you could grow something. You confirmed that for me. Thanks for the link on Peonies.

There is also a greenhouse in Anchorage where a guy is growing grapes for wine.

Here's the main website for the Alaska peony industry - The Alaska Peony Growers Association.

A friend of ours is a partner in the oldest commercial peony farm in Alaska, Polar Peonies (see their website at Home), which they first started working on in 2001. She has lots of interesting tales to tell. Making a decent living farming anywhere is not easy and given the climate extremes it's even harder in Alaska. I think peony farming in Alaska has considerable potential, but it is still in its infancy and subject to considerable experimentation to figure out how best to do it.

Thanks for the Havermeister Farm heads up. After the dairy farm closers a number of years ago, I didn't know any viable operations were left.
