Lol, I've driven by that place and it's slummy as hell. When I stay in Eugene, I either get an Air B&B or stay at the Motel 6 out north -- it's actually really nice for a basic motel, and it was really clean.

Hey that place was a slum 20 years ago when I used to hang out in Eugene, so I can't imagine what it looks like now.

My mom used to travel on per diem for work and insists that for the money Motel 6 is always clean and comfortable. I always traveled on expense for work, so I usually stayed at Hampton Inn Express... also always nice & clean, and I like that they have the bleached duvet cover that's laundered every day. Hotels give me the willies. And now I need another vomit emoticon.

Nine times out of ten I would literally rather sleep in my truck than in a hotel... and I do if it's my nickel.

I can't believe that gal paid $178 for that room. Un. Believable. I would have jumped over the counter at that receptionist. Seriously.

Wow -- $178? I guess they jack everything up for Duck's games.

Yeah, $178 they were in town from Idaho for the game. They couldn't get the receptionist to make it right so they had to go rent another room somewhere else.

I don't know about bed bugs ,but "skin so soft" works well to keep critters at bay.

Works good on no-see-ums. Not so much on bedbugs.

It probably wasn't the receptionist's call. Rude staff is almost always a sign of bad management. People often seem to think that front desk personnel have all sorts of powers, but they really don't, and it's hard to be in frontline position in any business when you don't have any authority. Many front desk people don't have the necessary codes to hand out refunds "on the spot." I used to work for a guy (at a supposedly nice, but small, resort) who would literally hide behind his employees. It was a long time ago, and I was supposedly management, but even I couldn't issue a refund.

Idk, reading between the lines of this review, I'm not convinced it's that one-sided or even that it's genuine. Probably a pissed off former employee of the lodge. Frankly, the subliterate rantings don't reflect well on the poster, and having to pay for another hotel room doesn't ring true. Last minute hotel rooms during home games are nonexistent in Eugene unless she got really lucky.

ETA -- she said the "ducks bev" game. I'm assuming she meant the "Ducks vs Beavers" game. That's the Civil War game, and there are never, ever, available hotel rooms in Eugene during that time. I also don't believe that they had another room to move her to during Civil War. The Econolodge isn't the Hilton, but this Coos County massage parlor employee clearly has a personal vendetta. The place looks slummy and maybe has bedbugs, but this person simply isn't credible.

Good point on the receptionist not being able to issue a refund, and I didn't even think about room availability during a Ducks game. Now, perhaps reading between the lines, I can see where the receptionist could have given her a contact number to call to get resolution and she simply didn't want to wait until after the weekend... since she mentions that several times.

And really, who in their right mind would pay $178 for a room at the stinkin' Econo Lodge? ...anyone??

You could be right, Met.

Sorry to go on. People trying to bully frontline employees is a pet peeve, and I'm pretty sure the receptionist didn't threaten to call the cops on little miss massage for no reason.

We've had people come around trying to be someone at the expense of our employees...they don't get to come back.
