it's back to spending summers in Alaska. Haven't been there since 2012.

I want to expand the fish cannery and maybe put up some seasonal rental cabins. I could also put up some greenhouses and start a pot farm now that it's legal.

Now that I think of it, maybe cannabis is at least a partial answer to the state's financial woes. We have a restaurant too, maybe I should turn it into a pot restaurant. Colorado has benefited significantly from cannabis tourism; no reason why Alaska shouldn't as well.

You could use this for year around growing.

Not legal to grow pot yet. They haven't figured out the laws and fees yet.

That thing's pretty cool, thanks. Maybe I should get a bunch of those and rent them out to people who want to grow their own pot but don't have a place to put one of those containers.

It's not the cold that gets to me about winters -- it's the gloom that happens in SE, and the fact that there's just nothing to do once the salmon stop running. I like being able to go to art galleries and the symphony and whatever.

That's all the stuff we don't have on the southern tip of the panhandle. We see the lights now and then on rare occasions when there isn't any cloud cover in winter, but rivers and lakes don't freeze over. No ice fishing for us. We've got what may be the most beautiful sunsets in the summer, and they last for hours, so there are some good aspects. And of course, we've got drinking. We're not supposed to have fireworks on the property after an incident in 2010....
