A few candle holders fell and broke, but that was it. Other things also fell but didn't break or anything.

The quake itself scared the bejeezus out of my 8yo son and I, as we were up watching TV when it happened.

I grew up in Southern California, but this quake is still the biggest quake I've ever been in.

The Engineers that live in Anc had pictures fall from the walls, among other things. I'm sure there will be a mess. I just hope none of your cameras ended up on the floor! And the tall book shelf full of books might be laying on the floor! The house in Sterling things seemed to have moved north and south.

Sorry to say, but earthquake insurance, like flood insurance, is nearly always a separate and independent policy in addition to a typical home owners policy. I Hope all turns out well for you, regardless.

It was a weekend. I'm a night person myself so it's no surprise my son takes after me a bit

I had a tonne of things knocked over and fall but nothing broke. I was, however, scared witless since I was sleeping when it happened. That massive 7.1 jolt took a few years off my life. I was not able to get back to sleep after that.

Used to be artesian...maybe it will come back.

Some of the oil wells out here at work that were basically dead, suddenly have good pressure and one even produced 80 bbls by 6AM this morning. We were fixing to work it over in hopes to get some sort of production out of it. Might not have to mess with it now.
Mother Natures answer to fracing, eh?

There are numerous wells that have upped production, I'm sure due to fractures and such in formations. I am hearing of numerous water wells here on the peninsula that are now putting out muddy water too. Probably shaken like a good martini so any silt or sand is going to need some settling time.
