My emergency only cellphone battery is getting so it won't hold a charge more than a couple of days. So I went to Amazon and found them for $5.75 so I ordered one, only to find out they cant ship Lithium batters to Alaska. So I made a trip to Batters are Us, only to find out they dont have them in stock and it would take 2 weeks to get here, and the price is $35.98. So now i'm looking for a new phone, No whay will I pay$35.98 for a $5.75 battery!

YIKES. They *could* ship them, but they won't. UPS has guidelines for shipping cell phone lithium batteries. I know because I went directly to UPS for a package and those directions were posted on the wall...

The other way is USPS ground which takes 3 forevers and a week to get here. I sent a package parcel post as it was books and 6 weeks later it showed up. I thought was lost forever, but I put a tracking # on it so I could see it slowly traverse it's way up here...

Or you could do what I did and have your sister ship it to you.

I can abide by good rules. Not by stupid rules.

I'm still down here for another month if you don't have any family here to send you one.

Hmm, weird.

Amazon had no issues sending me Li-Ion batteries for my console controllers (although I don't get UPS/FedEx delivery so don't waste my time with it, it all comes through the Post Office on the same plane).

Maybe they don't consider them the same kind of merchandise, or UPS/Fedex deals with them differently, although I know Li-Ion flight requirements are through IATA, so apply the same to all air freight.

There are a lot of wierd regulations on what they will ship or not. I tried to get some pipe dope made for diesel fuel and they wouldn't ship it. All this with Amazon Prime. Big Brother is watching!

Yeah, the do seem to have some arbitrary choices on what they will and will not ship. Like a 4 pack of Folgers coffee, but they will ship 2 two packs of Hills Bros now can anyone explain that (I know Folgers isn't great, Hills Bros isn't great, but you try to drink 2+ pots of coffee a day with $10/pound priced coffee on a budget with a raging lifelong caffeine addiction).

I was just surprised they don't ship phone lithium ion, but do ship console controller lithium ion rechargeables (which are the same degree of risk in shipping as any other battery that is Lithium Ion). I've also bought replacement Li-Ion's for laptops, no problem either.

Go figure.

It could be worse. I am amazed at how many Americans forget that Alaska exists. When asked what the largest state is by area, they usually respond, "Texas" or "California"
