Yup. As I understand it, Delta's busses won't go out if it's lower than -50 at the bus yard...too risky to be out in the boonies with a load of kids at that temp. So, not much point in having school if no one will be there.

I guess it did drop below -50 in Delta in many places. Someone sent in a picture of a thermometer in big delta with a reading of -65. I don't know how accurate my thermometer is, but it only read -43 below this morning.

Well, it sounds like UPS is not delivering today... I have a bunch of freight that's already arrived in Fairbanks that's delayed due to weather, so...

Not yet sure about FedEx, but, I'd imagine they're not delivering either.

Two days in a row I got the notice from UPS about my packages being delayed. They still showed up right on time.

Yeah, I ended up receiving over 100 pcs of freight today from UPS alone, so... so much for THAT information!! Haha

-50F is just mind boggling to me. 0 is cold enough, so 50 degrees less than that seems unimaginable.

And to think that some places in SE are over 40F at the same time. A 90 degree swing, within the state, during winter.

Well you guys get lots of rain down there and we don't. So that's why we put up with colder temps . Although 40 degrees sounds nice right about now....

I always tell my wife that if it wasn't so cold and windy all the time that we could never afford to live here .

I saw something yesterday saying that there was a 100* swing within the state of Alaska, but that was with a low of -50* but it was colder than that in some areas here. It's a huge state, but that is still pretty wild.

Yes, living in Alaska requires some physical and psychological toughness than many people haven't developed.

Or, are eager to abandon when the opportunity arises.
