Where are the mods when you need them?
A couple of the responses on here were classless.

No, what was classless was your posting here and asking about how to take a pocketful of money back to wherever it is you're from.

I find it humorous that people come up here to get rich quick and go back to the states broke.

I suggest coming up here, beating the streets and find "yourself" a job. And a suggestion...don't tell everyone you want to make a bunch of money then go back home with it. Most people you meet will give you much worse classless answers than your getting here.

I don't like it when you meet someone new here in town and somewhere along the line the phrase comes up: "I'm just here for the money." Right then and there they lose my respect.

Just so you know (OP), the jobs on the slope are rotation jobs, which means you work for two or three weeks and then fly out for a couple of weeks. So you still have the financial responsibility of maintaining a home elsewhere. You can't just stay up there for a year and stuff your pockets.

First hand experience so far speaking here, kinda been there and doing it if you will.
My husband HAS the type of experience that should land him a good job in the slope area or with some of the mining operations.Heck one of the companies my husband has an excellent work history for is in Alaska but they give residents first choice even with working for them for 2yrs. And we have spoken to several of the employers and have found out that people wanting these jobs are easy to find and they WILL give preference to people that have legal residence here. So when we get there in a week or so my husband is willing to take whatever job he must in order to pay the bills and feed the family. Does he want a cheap paying job, nope. But until he can find a good job that pays well he isn't above doing whatever.

Why do you think you are worth more than $8 an hour? You haven't listed any skills that would help you land a high paying job on the slope. It sounds like you would be better suited to city life.

Classless?
I believe you are mistaking a lack of class for a presence of honesty.
Tact is not something Alaskans poses in great quantities. Get used to it or go home.

Thanks, can always use some insider tips.

I am begining to see why some of the answers are given like they are. It is take, take, take, take. No one seems to want to WORK for what they want they want it quick and easy. Yeah maybe in a fantasy world that would be the way it is but dang, sometimes you gotta work for that $ and not everyone can be CEO and make the big $$ sometimes you gotta start out low and work your way up. Sometimes you gotta take that job for $8 to get in the door to show them what your all about and that your serious.
Why would you want to go anywhere and take from the people that live there? I hear people here complaining about this with the hispanic people. They come here and yeah they take the crap jobs most of the time but they take their money and run and people are getting mad because it isn't helping America its helping where ever they're from. And I see this as no different.
