What a cool site. I currently work Aerospace Control and Warning Systems on Elmendorf and all of the remote radar site are now "piped" in to us at one central location.

Tiraka, yes she is there. there are no bears...just birds and rabbits. LIMITED phone use(forget cells) mail........maybe every 6 weeks, computers for research only....no e-mail etc. Weather: has been from 30' to 50's and a whole lot of rain. Google Middleton 1; or to see what the weather's like google middleton alaska weather cam, hit "all sites" then "middleton island" 2 views..one of airport, one of road around hill. photos every 10 min. Did I say lots of rain...take an i-pod if you can. showers-1 . lavender_loon

I spent a year there in 62-63 in Air Force. Island is about 2 miles long and 1 mile wide. Cliffs on one end and beach on the other. Lots of birds, hair seals, and zillions of rabbits--originally domestic rabbits gone wild. Go to armandphotos.homestead.com for lots of pictures and info.
