After much thought I have decided not to relocate to Alaska. It was a lifelong dream to live there, and I still plan to visit someday.

I had to settle for something a bit less exotic. I'm moving to Maine. The fishing is good there but nothing like you have in Alaska.

Bottom line is I want to be closer to my kids in Ohio.

Why didn't you just move to Ohio? You could save on gas, then have extra money to vacation in Alaska and Maine.

Yes the fishing here in Alaska is awesome. However, my husband and I have been to Maine and it is a beautiful State. I love the New England States. What part of Ohio are your kids in? I have family in N.E. Ohio and also in S.E. Ohio and I sure know what you mean about wanting to be closer to your family. I try to get to Ohio and Conn. where I have family at least once a year but it's a long, expensive trip. Have you secured a job in Maine yet? Good luck with your move.

Wow!! From Alaska to Maine. That is the opposite end of the country. I am sure glad my wife does not change her mind that easily.
