I strongly suspect that this past summer is just the beginning of a warmer Earth.

Buckle up and brace for impact.

Hard to tell, because we have had hotter summers than this one in previous years, at least in the interior of Alaska.

It was hotter than the devil's foot for that couple of weeks that the smoke was so bad from the Shovel Creek fire, but aside from that it was really cool.

Yes. The smoke was so thick that we had to close the windows, and this in turn made the interior of the house quite hot compared to outside. That's why so many portable AC units were being sold in Fairbanks.

I tried to buy some of the portable units at Costco a couple times, but by the time I made it there they were all gone.

That's quite a story. Likely that the stores will be better stocked for next summer.

Here in SE I felt no need for AC. The only issue for some could be getting house temp down for comfortable sleeping in the evening, but with adequate ventilation and ceiling fans it need not be a problem.

40 days over 70 in Juneau- A new record. https://www.juneauempire.com/news/ey...s-this-summer/

I'm going to respectfully disagree.

I went the other direction and left the windows open and put my ghetto homemade air purifiers in the windows. It worked pretty well, but there really was not any good solutions.
