Usually in summer the weather shouldn't be nasty enough to make this passage uncomfortable in such a large vessel. Even the normal route requires a bit of exposure to open ocean.

LOL, you are certainly proving that.

Again here is his update. If you want to continue to ignore it, fine. But you are ignoring reality.

Due to vaccine hesitancy and the delayed arrival of a children vaccine, it is possible that we do not reach the levels required for herd immunity in 2021.

Sure, of course it's possible herd immunity won't be reached in 2021. Reality is not what we're looking at, btw. What you're ignoring is that he has updated that page recently and has not removed the projection of "back to normal" by summer.

Also, if you look closely at his graphs of "path to herd immunity" the curve reaches above 60% earlier
in the update than it does previously, but reaches 80% later.

No, that is not reality. The current charts show it maxing out at 73% by the end of the year. There are no charts showing it getting to 80% anytime in 2021. Also he says "We are actively working to incorporate the new variants into our modeling." The new variants have not even yet been incorporated into the projections.

But the Passenger Vessel Services Act, as mentioned on the first page of this thread, that requires foreign flagged vessels (such as all large cruise ships in all large cruise ship companies that visit North America) to touch base in another nation before they can carry American passengers to or from an American port. Also have the Jones Act to contend with.

We were in compliance with Jones Act of 1920. Time to dump it.

Which may be more than enough for herd immunity. As the WHO has said, nobody knows for sure what that number is.

From Twitter, look up the name in Twitter if you want to access the thread:

"Vaccine efficacy in blocking infection & transmission

(I think) We can now estimate the (minimum) reduction in transmission from the Moderna vaccine.

Thread

tl;dr Moderna vaccine blocks >90% (87-93%) of infections & 91% (89-94%) of transmission.

*Critiques welcome!"

And today CDC says vaccinated individuals do NOT have to quarantine after being exposed to Covid positives. Good news!

Oh come on, some of you are bickering back and forth over whether a scientist's predictions are accurate or not when the truth of the matter is, Canada still might not open its borders or lift the cruise ship ban even if Covid numbers plummet in the next few months (which I sincerely don't think will happen). The virus is a major reason for the ban but moreover trust in the Americans controlling it and controlling themselves is an all time low. You can't just yell "LIAR" to someone who said they no longer trust you, you have to work hard to regain that trust. I don't like the situation anymore than anyone else but I won't rest on herd immunity to revive the cruise industry or reopen our borders. When the borders finally do open and non-essential travel gets through again, we Americans will end up dropping to our knees and bowing to the Canadian authorities while crying "We're not worthy! We're not worthy" like Wayne and Garth did to Alice Cooper in Wayne's World.

This! It really is just that simple.

But, aside from that, who on earth wants to get on a cruise ship? They are floating petri dishes. Even the closed cruises to nowhere came back with Covid positive cases.
