Hyder was above 90 degrees yesterday, I believe. Ketchikan at 88.

Ketchikan's overnight low on Sunday was 62 degrees, a new record high for a low. 62 is actually their average high temperature for that day.

Juneau was 82 yesterday. Don't know if any other records besides Ketchikan's low were broken in the region, probably so.

NWS says Ketchikan airport didn't hit 88. Here's a quote from their FB site today:

"More record high temperatures were set yesterday, June 28. Ketchikan airport reached 82F breaking the old record of 75F set in 1946. Sitka airport hit 75F breaking the old record of 70F set in 1945"

In the weather forum on this subject I was speculating that the Oregon and Washington coasts would be flooded with people escaping inland heat.

Had to be the "real" coast though. Puget Sound, Bellingham, etc. were also cooking.

As I recall Medford is frequently hot, just not that hot!

The map at top of this page shows that BC and to a smaller extent SE Alaska were at the epicenter of the heat dome more so than US PNW. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...r-weather.html

The average summertime high in Medford is about 90 degrees. Temperatures between 100° and 115° are not uncommon.

This from US National Weather Service Juneau Alaska 5 hrs ago:

"For three straight days, Ketchikan Airport has either tied or broken the record high temperature. Yesterday the record from 1992 of 79F was tied. That streak will likely end today as the forecast high is just 69F, while the record for today is 82F"

Arktikos isn't in Anchorage. We've been pretty hot lately too - mid-70's - but nobody is going to cry for us.
