Can current staff at the Post Office offer any help? Have you tried contacting the North Slope Borough?

Good luck! Pre-Covid the Borough had a 1 year wait list. Other vacancies are advertised on the bulletin board at the Alaska Commercial Company.

I've seen similar posts here, and for Bethel, other bush communities. I just don't understand employers there making hires for teachers, post office, etc. and then (apparently?) not significantly helping with the housing search. It's simply flabbergasting that they would put effort into recruitment, backgrounds, references etc. and then lose an employee before they even show up.

Although there are a few job openings, the matter of fact is that housing in the bush is extremely limited. As mentioned, youou would have to contact the city, borough or the post office itself.

That’s the woke name. Most Alaskans and a good chunk of the residents still call it Barrow.

"Woke" as in the indigenous people being proud of their own place to call home! Hard to say, yes, but it is the pride of your local area that counts.

You jest? They had plenty of pride in their hometown even when it was called Barrow. You might want to go back and read up on the controversy it caused among residents when the name change was purposed. A large portion of the elders spoke out against it.
