Schools? try this. Schools and Programs Administered by Sitka School District .

Sea side community, warm weather, fish for the freezer, strong tourist influence.

Ah, you're right on all counts but one, my fellow fish-lover. Sitka is proabably my favorite SE community for the simple reason that they have found the perfect balance of tourism and community. Only one ship is allowed per day, and all the excursions, shops, etc are locally owned. You won't find a single jewelry emporium or corny Alaska "experience".
It's really a beautiful place, too, with Mt. Edgecumbe and the sea. Don't know about schools per se, although I think they beat us at hockey all the time which probably means something.
I've written about it in the past, forddude, you can probably find my old posts by running a forum search for Sitka.

I have a seven year old litle white dog that I named Sitka...I lived in Alaska during the 70's....what fun I had. Don't be afraid of the weather just dress for it.
