My wife took a picture of a Subway restaurant in Bethel AK to prove to her folks that there is, indeed, "civilization" there.

Sad.
Truly sad.

Subway makes good subs, but Mom & Pop operations generally make better ones.

Have to agree with you on that one.
I will eat Subway in a pinch, but prefer the mom and pop places.

So much for civilization...

Is a mark of civilization fast food restaurants? Someone should tell the city council that they don't need to ape Anchorage.

Those aren't subs! You have to go up to Brother's Pizza and get one of their meatball subs, or any of their subs for that matter, they're huge!

They have a "Seasonal" Subway in Denali National Park's "Glitter Gulch". That is a place just outside the Park in the Nenana River Gorge where all the big name hotels are at.

All the employees are either from Russia or some other country from that part of the world and don't speak English very well, so you can figure on getting all sorts of weird Subs...

After Labor Day, the entire place closes up and it is pretty much abandoned for the rest of the other three seasons.

So I would say having a "Subway" there, makes that place "Seasonally" civilized...
