1964 Earthquake

Thanks for your posting of the letters!

My mother kept of daily diary of the Earthquake for about three weeks after the event. Reading it still makes the hair on my neck raise...

I had just turned nine at the time and still remember it very vividly, we were living in Anchorage.

Not much bothers me, but when the ground starts to shake, I am the first one out in the open with a kid tucked under each arm by instinct, any kid will do to save, since mine are grown and out on their own...

Thanks for posting those letters. I was 300 miles away from Anchorage at the time and it's still the biggest quake I have ever felt. We thought Anchorage was gone at the time. Couldn't find any of the radio stations on the air.

I have only run outside 2 times during a quake...that one and the one a few years ago that was 7 point something. I remember running outside thinking, this must be a big one because I haven't run outside for a quake since '64.
