Glitch should begin his own culinary art school...he has to be the best chef on this forum! That recipe for crab dip sounds divine...

I have one question, Glitch...would it be sacrilegious to utilize imitation crab for said dip?! Either that or I am going to utilize the Epi-pen and Benadryl...and let the hives and whatnot go hang.

Crab is best when dipped in melted, warm butter, real stuff!

You make "Dip" out of the leftover crab meat...if there is any, or put it on salads.

Ice Cold beer or Pepsi/Coke really makes the whole thing a really great meal!

And lots of paper towels....

It would be sacreligious, but it's not all that bad when it's used in things and not eaten straight like real crab. One of my former neighbors used to mix it chopped with frozen peas and mayo and sweet relish, and her kids loved it on crackers. Fake crab is still fish, so if you're allergic to fish in general, be warned. If it's just shellfish, it's okay.

Just allergic to shellfish...which is a horrid thing altogether. I have utilized the imitation crab with spiral noodles, olives, onions, and zesty Italian dressing for a quick summer salad.

You could probably substitute salmon or halibut as well Cori.

If you are allergic to shellfish then use pollock (imitation crab) or halibut or other firm white fish as a substitute.

Kudos to Glitch--that recipe got RAVE reviews. I made a strange amount and a bit more horseradish might have been in order...but it was fantastic and people ate a whole pan of it. One of the best I've had since I came up here. I did give an "anonymous" friend credit; but I was impressed with myself that it came out of my kitchen!

I'm glad you and your friends enjoyed it. That is one of the great things about cooking. You can always tweak the recipe to your liking. I use Dave's Insanity Sauce, which really does only require a couple drops to make the dip spicy hot. So I adjusted the horseradish down accordingly. If you or your friends like spicy hot food, then you can always kick it up another notch.

Default Better late than never?

I have a lot of recipes on my tupperware site...here is one for a hot crab dip. Maybe you can use it next time

Hot Crab DipIngredients

1 (6 ½ oz.) can crab meat
1 (8 oz.) Cream cheese
3 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. minced onion

Directions

Rinse crab in cool water. Soften cream cheese in Rock ‘N Serve for 45-60 seconds, stirring after 30 seconds. While cream cheese is in the microwave, mince the onion and add mayo, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Add crab and mixture to cream cheese. Microwave at 50% power for 4-6 minutes, or until mixture is hot, stirring after 2 minutes. Serve with crackers or fresh vegetables. Reheat in microwave as needed.
