I am considering relocating to Bethel from Rhode Island. I would appreciate any e-mail detailing how it is to live in Bethel, AK. Also, I plan to visit the area in a week for several days. I do have concern regarding my automobile and wonder if it would be wise for me to ship my 2005 Acura TL or simply sell the car to buy a used car (etc.).

If you like that vehicle, don’t bring it! The roads are not made for that type of car. The speed limit is 40 mph and if you actually go 40 you will damage your car. Most of the side roads are gravel and the "highway" laugh is almost like a rollercoaster ride. no joke imagine a 1.5 inch speed bump that is what most of the roads have in them. Then in the spring and summer the pot holes form.

Would the airport also be able to help you by giving you local listings? They're usually pretty understanding when it comes to relocating. Have you asked them?

Relocating to Bethel Alaska
Hi my husband got a job offer in Bethel AK. They are willing to relocate us all expenses paid. Our rent and utilities will be taken care of as long as he works for the company. My question is what it is like there? I have 3 small children (19mth,6,8). I would love to see some pictures of the area if anyone would be so kind to show me.

I live in the opposite end of the state. Sorry I have no encouraging info for Bethel, other than it is remote. There are some older threads here that may have info you seek.
I also don't know about Alaska Commercial but if you PM some of the previous posters that are currently in Bethel...I'm sure they can be of better service. Sorry. It's a very large state and I have yet to cover all of it!
