Anyway...I went for a hike today...and the leaves are just starting to change here in New England. I have to say that fall is one of my favorite seasons...so what's fall like in Alaska? (Is there one? ) I've heard it's very very short...and I suppose it depends on the location...

Or is Warpt's post on the 4 seasons more accurate...winter, almost winter, still winter and construction...lol.
Here's a few examples of some fall colors in Alaska Ella...

Awesome pics Blackzzz01!

To all: Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for good luck.....I have a telephone interview this week for a job in Alaska and am also putting our house on the market in Tennessee. This is exciting but scary stuff!

Also, just wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" to all who post here and are so helpful to us newbies. Even if the dream of moving to Alaska is years away for some, it is a nice thing to be able to feel somewhat "connected" by conversing with and asking questions of Alaskan residents (present and former). You all are awesome!!

Yeah, fall is really short, but only if you stay in one place. If you're willing to chase it, the interior subalpine tundra (the bright red stuff dominated by dwarf birch and blueberries) is peaking right about now through the first week of September (I'm heading to Denali Park this weekend). Then comes the interior boreal forest most of the way through September, then the transitional boreal/coastal forests like Turnagain Arm and the western Kenai, right on through the first week of October or so. And then I'm off to WA to visit family and enjoy fall in the mountains down there. It's my favorite season...

That's strange...I didn't post that about fall being one color in Alaska ^^^ . I've never been so I have not a clue...

Anyhoo, I can't wait to see it for myself! It sounds like I'll be hitting the tail end of fall by the time I get there...

Down around the Homer area it is predominantly yellow coloring in the fall. It is still lovely but nothing as colorful and lovely as the pictures of the tundra. The leaves are just starting to change here yet the rasberries are just starting to ripen a few days ago.
