Thanks. With the sun low on the horizon now and the pilot who uses the crosswind runway here because it's so close to where he loads, I like to catch it on approach.

I am pretty sure the Dash-8s and Beech 1900s have Ground Proximity Warning System(GPWS). However I dont know about the smaller airplanes. The CAPSTONE project has GPWS as far as I know, but I dont know how many of ERAs smaller planes are equipped with CAPSTONE.

All of the local airlines all have Capstone installed in each plane. This was taken last winter in a AST Caravan, we were with Search and Rescue looking for open water on the frozen Kuskokwim. The screen in the center of the panel is Capstone, a lot of pilots also use their own GPS systems as a backup to the panel.

OK, I guess you guys have Capstone I, and we have Capstone II.

This is what our version of Capstone looks like. (Taken by a friend)

Yep. You guys had Capstone I which was more traffic oriented. They then introduced Captstone II down here because terrain is a bigger concern than traffic. In the end the two will be or has been integrated. In fact the first aircraft with Capstone belongs to UAA and I get to fly it next semester.

Any idea of what the Capstone panel costs to have put in the plane I or II?
