Hi everyone,
I am currently in an intensive massage therapy program in Honolulu HI.
I love Hawaii but my greatest joy comes from traveling and living in different places. Its too hot here, the beginning of December and Im sweating by noon. Growing up I traveled many states around the country for different reasons, but have never been to Alaska. The closest Ive been to that area is Montana, which I found breathtakingly beautiful. Im from the south but love the northern states and colder climate. I am not experienced however, in the day to day grind that one must endure during the harsh winters. I have never actually lived anywhere far north. I know Alaska is expensive, but Hawaii is even more expensive and so Im used to rediculous rent prices.
My best friend lives in the Kenai peninsula and Im considering a move far in the future. She is originally from Florida but moved to AK to be close to her mother and sister. She loves it but says the winter is challenging and takes getting used to.
I will be working as a massage therapist and am interested in both medical and/or leisure spa, and may set up private practice as well. Are there any towns in the Kenai peninsula where a massage therapist may thrive, or am I better off just going to Anchorage? I would prefer not to live in Anchorage, but if thats where the work is then thats where Ill go.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks

The entire Kenai area is good, Homer is a town there that you would do well.

If you think winters down there are bad in the Kenai area, you certainly don't want to try Fairbanks.
