I absolutely love salmon, and seafood in general, and should I end up in Alaska I'll want to do quite a bit of fishing. I don't like that combat fishing crap, though, so I'll have to find somewhere I can have some peace, quiet, and tranquility. When the cutthroat run in western WA, I stay away from the main fishing areas. One guy was actually shot and killed not far from my house over something to the effect of: "hey man, you caught my line!". Didn't mean to go off on that tangent, I was just agreeing with Grannysroost and salmon.

Either you are a vegetarian or have never eaten decent moose meat. I just finished a moose burger...I'd take it over beef any day.

Moose roast is almost like candy...can't stay away from it.

Marty is right, if moose is prepared properly it's to die for and I'm no red meat eater. Black bear can be good if it's a youngish animal; it's best cooked in a pit.

Makes sense now why I didn't see moose or bear on the menus...
Snow Goose in Anchorage and West Rib in Talkeetna have caribou burgers, I'll have to give them a try.
West Rib has muskox burgers too but not real thrilled about trying that.

Did anyone catch "Diners, Drive-Inns, and Dives" the other night? Guy was up in North Pole at a few restaurants there, looks like I need to stop by there in February. The Pagoda looks like a great place to eat.

When the "cutthroat run"?! I meant steelhead! I have plans to go cutthroat fishing with a buddy, so that must have been on my mind.

You obviously missed my next post that said what meats I do like. We have the best seafood ever here, why on earth would I settle for something that makes me want to vomit? And that sounds like something people say about catfish, which is some of the most disgusting food ever. "Oh you've just never had it cooked properly"...which they usually mean deep fried. I'm sorry but anything is edible when its deep fried including television remote controls.

What the problem here is that these foods are not rated on some sort of Jason28 scale. Personally I really didn't need to hear what makes you "vomit". In fact, that's quite digusting to read in a food thread.
As for the catfish, I could eat a few plates full right now - excellent!
Where IS this "best seafood ever"? I read the entire thread and even checked in your profile but I have no idea where "here" is. Seafood is great, for me.

Apparently you like fish, and not red meat. Fine. I love salmon and halibut as well.

I have a freezer full of red salmon, halibut, and moose.

But you can have your sea bugs. I'll eat them, but I won't pay for the privilege.

Default good and lean

Game meat is excellent as long as it's cared for properly in the field and back home and/or the animal was not stressed or in rut. I got 5 deer one year in Kodiak, (the limit was seven back then), and I ate on it for almost a year. When I ran out and had to eat hamburger it tasted like cardboard. I've also eaten caribou and moose are they are just as good. Game meat is very lean so like most people I add beef suet into the burger meat.
A chili cooking expert friend, originally from Texas, told me his best chili includes black bear meat. Game meat adds a depth of flavor that you really can't get from commercial meat products.
Try some good moose burger chili, spaghetti or lasagna and you'll never go back.
