As I sit here staring out the window at yet another winter storm and more blowing snow, I just realized the last time we had such a lousy April was also the year with the cr@ppy summer (2008). Now with all of this new Incelandic Volcano ash added to the atmosphere, I'm beginning to wonder if we are in for another cold summer?

My son left Baghdad a few days ago and was supposed to be back in the US tomorrow. He's been stuck in Qatar for the last couple of days because of the volcano.

It's gonna be a nice, warm, sunny, dry summer in Alaska. I've decided.

Just remember the weeks before the snow hit.. sunny and 40-50*.. people were bringing out their summer cars and such.. let's have those weeks be the indicator of what is to come.

Every one on American TV has been mispronouncing it. Let me clue you guys in:

A-ya-fyaat-la-yo-kutl

jokull means glacier (and when two l's appear they are pronounced as 'tl').

I have driven by that glacier. But the more impressive glacier is Vatnajokull. You should see how those Icelanders drive their jeeps around switchbacks to get up there. One skid and you are history, but the fellas are so cool about it.

Well, let's be fair, ll isn't *really* pronounced like "tl" but that's the best our English speaking mouths can do. It's more like clicking your tongue to the side of your mouth.

I've been to Iceland a couple of times. The only thing more extreme than the beauty of the women and the land is the difficulty of the Icelandic language.
