We are moving to area hopefully by this summer. My wife has a job here. We are leaving our small town behind, it is a school with 40 to 60 kids per grade, which I think of as a plus. We are on first name basis with the Principals and most Teachers, BUT the problem is H.S. , there is limited AP courses, tech n voc. courses.
I have been researching Schools online, it looks like Saratoga Springs csd, and Schuylerville csd are my 2 best choices for great schools with lots of Ap courses etc and proximity to my wife's work(20 mins west of Saratoga Springs). can you please tell me your pros n cons on these 2 schools and maybe Greenwich and Ballston Spa csds also. thank you.

I live in Quaker Springs area and although I don't have children in school, the Schuylerville schools have a very good reputation. Our neighbors children attended the high school and the parents are happy with the school and the children are also. You might check www.greatschools.org for further information.

Also might find some information you are seeking at:
Schuylerville Central School District - Saratoga County - Trulia

Thanks Jake, (Blues Brothers), I checked out those websites already, Schuylerville's #'s dropped last year. But that can be to the new controversial core curriculum that the State has mandated. I like the fact that Schuylerville District Area doesn't have many if any Trailer Parks, no offense 2 the Trailer Park Boys, ( I love that show), Saratoga Springs School district seems 2 have many. Out where I live they are section 8 and a magnet 4 domestic disputes and violence, etc. and where the Troopers or local Police Agency spends alot of their time. I personally have lots of experience with section 8 from previous jobs and will avoid it. Maybe it's different in Saratoga County I don't know. But I do like the fact that both school district areas have reputable Troopers and Wilton even has Paid EMS, I just wonder what the difference is between the 2 school districts. If one's reputation or #'s are fluffed or B.S.

Uh Saratoga county is one of the wealthiest counties in the State. I don't think you have to worry too much about section 8 housing or trailer parks there...

I have seen many as you leave out of Saratoga Springs on 9n, and at least 3 or 4 up in Greenfield, and a huge 1 behind the Wilton Mall and 1 going out on Louden Rd. And they are all in the Saratoga Springs School District, as is the Federal Projects in Saratoga Springs itself. Google Earth is a fine tool 4 research as is stopping in and talking to local PD. But these might be nice Trailer Parks I do not know, I have been to nice ones before. But I have never been to a good project. I understand you cannot get completely away from certain elements. But you can have less of it. I understand Saratoga is a solid county, I am very impressed with it and would be honored to be a resident here. I just am wondering the pros and cons of Schuylervile and Saratoga Springs school districts.

I am in the same boat as you are, but we are planning a move from FL this summer hopefully. I have been twisting my brain inside and out trying to figure out what the different qualities are between the 2. I have one going into K and one going into 4th. Did you find out any more details?

It seems, so far that their ap courses are similar, but Saratoga springs has less to offer percentage wise, saratoga has more athletics, groups n clubs, etc. available. But I know all my trophies, though fond are now fading memories, and are in a box in the attic not making any money for me. Saratoga has higher rankings across the board for certain, but I am still researching cause stats don't tell the whole story. It seems you can't go wrong with either. One school is bigger with more $. The other is much smaller, but that necessarily doesn't dictate which 1 is better( just look at Lake George Csd Vs Queensbury Csd) so still undecided here. What has your research led you to conclude so far ?

Well, I know someone who works at Schuylerville and she absolutely loves it and chooses to send her kids there because it is smaller than saratoga. What is up with Queensbury Csd? No good? I love the trailer park research that you did...didn't even think about that but it does have an affect on the population as a whole. I did look and there are many sex offenders in the Wilton and Gaansevort area which is a huge factor seeing as we have 2 young kids.

You need to actually go to both Towns, just stand by both City halls and ask your self where you would rather live. Lot of people with your past qualifications live in Western NY and love it there.

Stand by both city/ town Halls? Why don't you just say what that means? How bout stand in all of SCHUYLERVILLE csd's trailer parks.... there are none, how bout stand in Saratoga Springs CSD's MANY Trailer Parks and Federal Projects( Projects Really? and I love some of those side streets off the main drag, kinda like AC). The village of Schuyerville is old and not wealthy like Downtown Saratoga Springs this is for sure, But you gotta look at the big picture.
As far as when I compared "Saratoga csd vs Schulerville CSD" to "Queensbury csd vs LK George Csd". Its kinda similar, in that Queensbury is a GREAT school district, it is larger and has a lot to more to offer, Lk George is much Smaller, but the HS is a 9, (none of these schools we are talkn about are rated a 9) and w/ tons of available AP courses. So my point was size don't matter, at least when it comes to these schools.
I tell you this much OUTOFSOFLA, if we find the perfect house in any of these 4 School districts we would be happy........ This just in Rangers 3 Flyers 0, see you in the playoffs Philly, any Update on Phantoms leaving Glen Falls ??? Sounds definite cause they are building them an Arena down Philly or Allentown I hear.
