Hi All,

I am planning to shift to Albany (from outside States) and have a offer of 83K salary. My spouse and daughter (3 yr) will be accompanying me.

Want all of your advice is 83K is good salary to live in Albany? Will i able to take care of accommodation (on rent), education and other household things with the given offer?

Thanks in advance..

NG

Yes......For a frame of reference, the median household income for the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro area is $61,841 according to 2010-2014 US Census information. That is the highest median household figure for any Upstate NY metropolitan area. So, that is well above the area figure.

Where are you coming from, by the way?

Can you also help me with the initial setup cost too:
1. Rent (2beadroom)
2. Car (used or new)
3. basic furniture and other setup
etc.

Thanks

In terms of an apartment, this guide can get you started: Apartments for Rent in Albany NY | Renters Guide Albany

Where in the area would you be working? This could help you pinpoint where you want to look in terms of an apartment.
