Everyone has to go to Saratoga??? Saratoga Was nothing in the 70s, nothing different today about it. I lived there, if it was that wonderful I would have stayed there. like the whole area is Yuppieville now. Most of Gen X that grew up, left Clifton Park left as far as I could tell. At least everyone here is still down to earth. Man a lot better that Saratoga. Meet more a variety of people. Yeah I know everyone in Saratoga is better than everyone else. You grow up in that county and watch the development horror destroy your home, and we will just let it happen. Saratoga gets more snobby as time goes on, for what??? Was a nice farm town when I was a kid, not anymore... My parents would love to leave now as well, not what they bought their house for in the 60's. What is with the big Mcmansions anyway? You family won't be bigger than 4-5 people??? If you want to impress somebody, show them what a wonderful person you are, not flash all your junk around!!! Live within your means for peat sake.

Sadly the Saratoga has become upstate's Long Island suburb. Complete with the white knuckle driving and high wired personalities. We joke you can spot them a mile away. Ironically, many of them left Long Island and Brooklyn and they want to create what they left behind... Most of them are just lost up here.

I was born and raised in Upstate NY but I find the xenophobia a lot of upstaters have toward Long Islanders and downstaters sickening. So they have a different accent. So they often have more money than us. Oh well, they're still people. Some can be rude, yes, but some can be very friendly as well. And if they bring their money with them up here, then it can only be good for the local economy.

My entire block is pretty much from NYC. These people certainly don't have money.

I'm from southern New England...it's not xenophobia, it's an amusing look at a group of people that really dont fit in.

I am looking for a nice and safe neighborhood for my daughter and her roommate between Saratoga Springs, NY and Schenectady, NY. One will be working in Schenectady and the other in Saratoga Springs so it would be great to find something right in the middle. Being two young women, we need it to be safe. Thank you for any help you can offer!

So pretty much Saratoga County south of Saratoga Springs/north & west of Schenectady. I don’t think any of the communities in between aren’t safe and it will come down to what kind of community they are looking for. Hopefully others will chime in with more specific information.
