Liberal area Capital area? (Colonie, Niskayuna: 2013, neighborhood, school districts)

Hi there, I currently live in Delmar (not for very long), and I really don't like the people or the area. Even though I'm liberal leaning, the self righteousness of the people in my neighborhood and general unfriendliness is so off putting. I have kids in school, and I'm looking to move somewhere else with a little more property and good schools. Capital area or North. Any recommendations? Thanks!

What about the North Colonie or South Colonie SD's? Niskayuna would be another SD to consider as well. All 3 are a little more culturally diverse and are highly regarded.
