"Homes are selling faster, and at higher prices, than a year ago in the Albany region as tight inventory, low mortgage interest rates and the easing of last spring's coronavirus restrictions have driven strong demand in the residential real estate market.

Pending sales, a measure of contracts signed, increased 23% in August compared to a year ago in the Multiple Listing Service operated by the Greater Capital Association of Realtors, according to preliminary data released Friday.

An imbalance of supply and demand is reflected in prices, and has prompted multiple offers on the most desirable homes. Inventory levels fell 35% in August, according to GCAR President Tom McGroder of Thomas J. Real Estate.

The median sale price rose 11% to $238,500 and the average increased 19%, to $292,581."

^Given that it has 9100 square feet of living space and has a $1.59 million price tag, the person that can buy that house likely can afford those taxes(as crazy as they are).
