Hoping someone can help. My fiance just arrived in town about 3 weeks ago. As soon as he finds a place, I'll follow. We are looking for a decent 2-3 bedroom single family house. We had one lined up but it fell through (the owner decided she wasn't moving after all).
We're a quiet couple looking for a decent area that's affordable. (Who isn't, right?)
Thus far it looks like Loudenville seems to be the most desireable area/community.
We're starting to think there aren't any single family homes in the Albany area. Most listings are for apartments or shared duplexs.
What are we missing? Can anyone suggest some other areas to look?
We're thinking maybe we should start to look at communities further away from Albany. We're open to all suggestions.
My fiance is living in a motel right now and it's getting pretty expensive. Right now we're trying to figure out if we should keep looking around the Albany area or start looking further out.
Also, can anyone point us to any rental listings other than craigslist and/or the local classifieds. Neither have been very successful. Spending a lot of money and time driving around and not very much is available.
Are you working in Albany? If so, you might want to avoid looking too far north along 87 such as Clifton Park or Saratoga. 87 gets really clogged during rush hour.
Depending on what city you are moving from, the rush hour traffic going north on I87 is congested, but compared to other places I've lived, it's not that bad.
The local newspaper's (The Times Union) online classifieds has a for rent section:
Real Estate – Rental property in Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga and New York's Capital Region (http://www.timesunion.com/realestate/forrent.asp - broken link)
