loc: 1710 Coal PL SE Albuquerque NM US - Google Maps

Let me know what you think?
Should I pass this up completely?
I've been told by one opinion that it maybe a bit rough of a neighborhood.

Thanks for your time!

The general location is a student area. It's very close to the community college (CNM) and not far from UNM. That specific building overlooks a fairly busy street and is not particularly attractive. It's difficult to know how to advise you since it depends on what you're looking for and what you're used to.

Thanks everyone.

I'm moving to ABQ for a film gig. I'll be in the state for 6-9 months.
Just looking for a place that's nice, fun, relatively safe for a single male, age 31. Definitely an apt. Studio or 1 bedroom.

Everyone has mentioned nicer neighborhoods, I've only been given rough recommendations such as Nob Hill or Downtown.

Any suggestions?

Will you be going to the same place every day, or all over the city at different times? (so we can suggest either areas by work, or centrally located places easy for travel)

Why not get an extended stay place that does monthly rates, like a Studio 6, Crossland, or an Extended Stay America? Usually a tier higher for safety, and not necessarily that much more expensive.

That neighborhood is fine, but some of the apartments along that stretch of Coal you might want to stay away from. Roosevelt Park is a great park, but it would really be hit or miss as far as housing. Silver Ave, just 2 blocks north, is very nice by contrast. A better bet though might be to look exactly 1-2 miles east/southeast/northeast of this Coal address.

Read this thread started by truckzter in 2008.

It's just as relevant today as it was then.
Just apply the lessons to the downtown area and
I think you might end up being closer to the places
where filming takes place, if that's applicable to you.

However, the UNM area caters to people looking
for 6-9 month stays, so check them both out.

Depending how soon you're moving here, you might get lucky and find a studio available in the high school lofts. They're about the same price as what you were looking at. It doesn't look like they have anything available now, but you could call and ask if they have anyone moving out before your move here.
