Rio Rancho, Sourthern Boulevard & Unser, in the Plaza with the Walmart. We have been a few times, I have mixed feelings, I prefer Jason's on Alameda by Hooters, good selections of sandwiches, but I don't recall them having Philly Cheesesteak.

I'm not a fan of Pat's and Geno's either when compared with more local places, but when friends would visit they'd always want to go to one or the other.

Tickles and Snooks also has whiz, which I don't believe any of the other places in ABQ has, and that's the original cheese, if you believe Pat's. And I have no reason not to.

The closest I've ever come to eating a Philly cheesesteak is when I tried Domino's Philly Cheesesteak pizza years ago. LOL. It tasted like a green onion omelet, and I loved it. But I've often wondered what the real thing tastes like. I must say that when I've seen shows on the Travel Channel about cheesesteaks the ones made with that nacho cheese-like sauce have turned me off to them. They seem like those roast beef and cheese sandwiches you can get at Arby's for a dollar. The sandwich in the picture posted in this thread does look very enticing, however.

After a beautiful morning at the balloon fiesta, we finally made it to Tickles and Snooks for a cheesesteak (with cheese whiz). It was freakin amazing. I was craving another one before I was even finished eating. The steak is perfect, and the peppers and onions do not overwhelm the sandwich. The bread is grilled to perfection and soaks up the grease and extra cheese. Amazing. Thanks for the recommendation!

I haven't tried that many steak sandwiches in the area, but DG's has the best I've had in Albuquerque, so far. The roll is a little off (too much of it, for one thing, and yet it doesn't hold together as well as it should) but the overall sandwich is good.

They have other good things there too.

Sorry to chime in, but I think tony lukes has gino's and pats beat. Me thinks Jim steaks is better than all 3.

I'm confused. I thought thelazyone was in Albuquerque?

I'm headed back to Philly for a vacation soon, so I will be able to have the real thing again
